Al-Barkaat was already in a strong position yesterday with IES VN Sule again struggling in the 2nd innings. The Day 2 of the finals was ended with IES already looking in trouble as they were struggling at 32/5.

Trailing a big lead of 200 runs, IES VN Sule had no choice but to survive the last day. The best possible option for them was to survive the bowlers and end the match in a draw which equally looked impossible considering that they had already lost half of their batting line up. Anas Malik was the chief destroyer with 7 wkts in the 1st innings while Anurag Singh had already done the damage yesterday taking up 4 wickets in the 2nd innings.

Starting off Day 3- the bad run of IES continued as they were not able to withstand the bowlers and kept on losing wickets at a regular succession.IES added just 37 runs to the board from their yesterday’s total as they were all out for just 69 runs in 53.2 overs. No doubt, the batsman tried to play off the overs as much as possible (run rate of just 1.4 in 53.2 over) but it was not enough. Anurag Singh finished with bowling figures of 5/20 in 17.2overs (10 maidens). Al-Barkat school won the prestigious final of the Giles Shield Tournament by an innings and 121 runs and each and every player contributed in their capacity. From Himanshu Singh (79) & Ankit Yadav (88) doing good batting to Anas Malik (7/31 in the 1st innings) and Anurag Singh (5/20 in the 2nd innings). Atharva Bhosle was on the losing side but he also bowled extremely well taking 7 wkts in the match.
