Two old prestigious teams of Mumbai namely the Parsee Gymkana and Cricket Club of India clashed against each other at the Parsee Gymkhana ground in Marine Lines where in CCI won the toss and elected to bowl first expecting the pitch to support the bowlers.

However, Parsee Gymkhana made 367/7 in 70 overs and batted really well. Both the prolific openers Akarshit Gomel (42) and Bravish Shetty (52) gave an excellent start which developed the positive momentum. Right handed Nikhil Patil at no.3 continued the good start provided by the openers as he went on to score a brisk 100 off 143balls. Nikhil displayed a solid cricketing sense while his mate at no.4 believed in attacking the bowlers. Ashay Sardesai came in at no.4 and scored 135 off just 130balls which included 21fours and a six while also stitched a 200run stand with Nikhil. Both the batsman looked really good and played some proper cricketing shots which were pleasing to the eyes. In fact it was their tons which took their team to a respectable total of 367/4 declare in 70overs.

CCI also batted really well but the Parsee Gymkhana bowlers did their job of restricting them under their 1st innings score to win the match on 1st innings. CCI were all out for 340/10 in 57 overs where in Paul Valthaty, Sujit Nayak, Shashikant Kadam scored half centuries while Saksham remained unbeaten on 48*. Parsee Gymkhana won the match on 1st innings lead while it was Ashay and Nikhil’s ton & Sujit’s all round show which remain the highlight performances of the match. It was also in good spirits to see that young Nikhil was thankful to his coach Vinayak Mane for his brilliant batting.
