Centurion Raju Samala steers Akumentis to an wasy win against Wockhardt in E-Merck Shield match

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Akumentis posted a daunting 375-7 in their full quota of 45 overs against Wockhardt on 23rd April at Navroz, Mumbai during the E-Merck Shield Cricket Tournament. Riding on opening bat Raju Samala’s (103 runs off 86 balls) fantastic century, Akumentis could manage to put up a huge score on board. Samala was aggressive in his intent, smacking six boundaries and a six in his delightful knock. Pradnesh Shinde (62 runs off 55 balls) and Ashish More (56 runs off 42 balls) too shined with the willow scoring half centuries. Wockhardt bowlers had a tough day and apart from Krishna Kumar (2-39 in 9 overs) none of the other bowlers looked penetrating.

In reply, Wockhardt was bundled out for a paltry 93 in 19.4 overs, losing the match by a huge margin of 282 runs. Aditya Nikam was the pick of the bowlers, picking up 4-25 in his six overs. After shinning with the bat, Raju Samala rolled his arm over to pick up 2-7 in his brief spell of three overs. Wockhardt had a disappointing day with the bat. Apart from opening bat, Krishna Kumar (32 runs off 27 balls), rest of the batting line-up showed no resistance and looked listless.

Raju Samala (103 runs off 86 balls and 2-7 in 3 overs) was announced as the Man of the Match for his wonderful knock.
