Two exciting young talents helped their team Podar win the Quarter finals as well as the Semi-finals of the DSO under 19 tournament which has now taken them to the finals. The 1st quarter final was held at the Elf Vengsarkar groud,Oval where in HR college won the toss and elected to bat first.

Batting first, HR College scored 69/9 in 15 overs where in openers gave a good start with Tasyam top scoring with 28 while the rest of the batsman struggled to convert their starts. Left-arm spinner Dhruv Vedak was excellent with the ball as he was the destroyer in chief taking a stunning 4/8 in 3 overs which included 1 maiden. Dhruv came up with excellent bowling figures considering it was just a 15 over match where the batsmen try to hit every ball for a boundary. Eventually Podar College chased down the score comfortably in just 7.2 overs. Openers Rohit Desai (23 off 13b) who is also the skipper and all-rounder Shreeraj (38 off just 21balls) almost finished the match single handedly. Podar College won the quarters by 8wkts and advanced to the semi-finals which was against Khalsa college on the same day and the same ground where in Podar won the toss and elected to field first.

Khalsa college notched up a healthy score of 140/7 in 15 overs which is a good score to defend. Right arm spinner Shreeraj was the pick of the scorer with 3/3 in an over while rest of the bowlers also contributed really well and especially Dhruv and Parah who bowled a fantastic spell as share by Shreej with Cricketgraph. While talking to Cricketgraph Shreeraj also shared that ‘ When we went to bat in, the pitch was playing a good role and keeping that in mind khalsa bowlers came up with their plan by bowling a negative line outside the off stump, So for us it was difficult to get runs and to hit the big shots. By the time it was difficult to hit big ….we came up with the plan to rotate the strike with singles & just focus on ones and two’s rather than big shots and at last we succeeded in our plans & all the batters contributed equally in this win” as they chased down the score in 14overs and won the match by 6wkts with Aman Sharma and Shreeraj top scoring with 29 & 24 respectively. With two back to back wins Podar college qualify for the finals while players like Dhruv and Shreeraj have certainly been impressive. Cricketgraph congratulates the boys and wishes Podar College luck for their finals.
