Dilip Vengsarkar XI wins vs Sunil Gavaskar’s XI while Prithvi Shaw’s brilliant 194 ends on a losing cause

Held at the Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana Ground in Mumbai, it was a tough match between two promising teams namely Dilip Vengsarkar XI & Sunil Gavaskar XI where in Gavaskar’s XI won the toss & elected to bat first with an aim of putting the opposition under pressure.

it was a brilliant batting perfomance by Gavaskar’s XI and most importantly it was from the bat of the talented Prithvi Shaw who fell just 6 runs short of what could have been one of the most graceful double centuries. Right-handed Prithvi Shaw was the highest scorer smashing 194 which had plentiful of sublime strokes and glances followed by a quick 48 by Nishant Williams. The knock was a right mixture of patience and aggression which helped his team reach a good total of 337/10 in 86overs. Experienced all-rounder Shams Maulani was the pick of the bowlers taking 4/111 with his left arm spin. In reply, it was also a good bowling perfomance by the Gavaskar’s XI as they bundled out Vengsarkar XI for just 207/10 in their 1st innings. Right-arm off spinner and left arm spinner Jay Bista(5/43) & Amit Kadam(4/77) took 9wkts together to trouble the opposition.

Gavaskar’s XI declared at 112/4 in 2nd innings but Vengsarkar boys gave an excellent comeback in the 2nd innings as they won the match by chasing down 286/2 in 50.2 overs(including penalty 40 runs). Sairaj Sangle scored one of the most sublime and match-winning knocks of 123* followed by a solid 77* by Aashay Sardesai.

It was a match full of terrific individual performances and a tough competition was given by both the teams to each other. Cricketgraph congratulates the winning team & wishes all the players luck for a great future ahead.
