It was a league match between Mahindra and Mahindra vs Orix at Western Railways, Cross Maidan. Team Orix won the toss and elected to field first as they thought the conditions were favorable for the bowlers to bowl first.
M & M were off to a shaky start with both their openers losing their wickets quickly. However it was their one down batsman Dipesh Gawad who turned the tides in M&M’s favor. Dipesh smashed a belligerent 71 off just 49 balls which included 7 glorious boundaries and 3 big sixes. Dipesh hardly wasted any time at the crease and he did not spare any loose balls either. Apart from him it was Jayesh Chandankar who played an extremely useful knock of 45* off 20 balls (5 fours, 2 sixes) which took their team total to a respectable position.
Chasing 209, Orix were all out just 88 in 16.2 overs. Thanks to some great bowling, Orix were not able to withstand the pressure of chasing at almost 11 runs per over at one point of time. Madhav sawant was nothing but excellent with the ball taking 4/9 in his 3 overs & being pick of the bowlers for Mahindra & Mahindra.
M&M won the match 120 runs and Dipesh Gawad was adjudged ‘man of the match’ for his brilliant performance. Looking at the form Dipesh is in, he will surely be a batsman to watch out for in the next matches of the tournament.
