DTU XI beat UP Warriors by 30 runs, enter S-F; debutant Vimal Kamal shines

DTU XI were back to their dominating ways on the field as they defeated UP Warriors by 30 runs in an all important league encounter in Monsoon Trophy 2015 and entered the last four stage of the event. Vimal Kamal played his first match for DTU and showed a lot of promise with an excellent knock of 46 runs that helped DTU post the highest total of the tournament so far.

UP Warriors skipper Raghva Ghai won the toss and decided to take the field first. DTU openers Shivam Duggal and Vimal Kamal gave a perfect start to the innings with a century partnership thus giving a solid platform for a good finish. Vaibhav Guhania did exactly that as he made a quick-fire 28 runs to inflate the total to 166 runs.

For UP Warriors, Naveen Kumar, Aditya Rishi and Shivam Sharma captured a couple of wickets each.

In reply, UP Warriors were off to a bad start as they lost their opener for just 3 runs. Skipper Raghav Ghai steadied the ship but was out soon. Opener Akash Sharma smashed 7 fours and 2 sixes en route to his knock of 65 runs. Rubel and Rahul Meena captured a couple of wickets each for DTU XI.

Vaibhav Guhania was adjudged man of the match for his all-round performance.
