Played at the Karnatak Sporting Association, Cross Maidan in Mumbai, it was a match between two heavy weight teams consisting of talented domestic level cricketers where in MCA colts won the toss and elected to bat first considering that they have a good batting line up.

Their decision to bat first was spot on as their top order gave an excellent start with opener Suved Parkar scoring an aggressive 81 off just 91balls while no.2 and 3 batsman chipped in with 20’s. Pranav Menon at no.4 fell just 1run short of what could have been a classy century. Unfortunately Pranav remained unbeaten till the end as he anchored the innings with his 99* off 142balls which included 6fours and 4sixes. Pranav was supported excellently by Atif Sheikh who scored a gutsy half century at no.10. From the bowling side, Vignesh Solanki once again proved his mettle with the ball taking 6/96 in 18 overs.

In reply, Karnatak SA gave a fitting reply with the bat as they scored 315/4 in 60.5 overs to win the match on 1st innings. Right handed Eknath kerkar at no.3 who is known to fire at the right occasions once again came in and took on the bowlers as he went on to score 169 off just 161balls to help his team surpass MCA colt’s score. Eknath smashed elegant as well as some powerful cricketing shots as he hit 13fours and 6sixes at a strike rate of 100+ while Sagar Chabbria and Vidyadhar Kamath chipped in with half centuries. It was a match full of positives as there were many good performances but it was certainly Eknath’s ton which caught everyone’s notice.
