Steve Waugh had once said that if you have all-rounders like Afridi or Symonds in your team, you don’t need the remaining 10 players to perform when it’s their day because they can single handedly make you win matches. One such perfomance like that we got to see was from Shiva Yadav in a match against WTW representing L&T at the MB Union ground in Mumbai.
WTW won the toss & elected to bowl first with an aim of restricting L&T to a low total. Their decision to bowl first did appear to be spot on when L&T was 2 down for 0 runs while struggling on 20/3 at one point. But All-rounder Shiva who had opened the innings kept his calm while wickets fell from the other end until left-handed Sagar came & both the players stitched a match-winning partnership of around 120 runs which completely brought them back into the game. Right-handed Shiva Yadav scored 67 off just 52balls while Sagar scored a crackling 58 off mere 27balls. Both the batsman smashed the balls with complete authority & especially Sagar who was looking destructive playing at a strike rate of above 200. Skipper Nishit completed the innings with a stylish 24ball 40 to help them reach a total of 195/8 in 20 overs from nowhere. Prem was the pick of the bowlers taking 3wkts followed by 2 for samrat.
Chasing 196 at almost 10runs per over, WTW succumbed to the pressure of chasing & were bundled out for just 93runs in 16 overs. All-rounder Shiva Yadav certainly raised his stakes as an all-rounder as he came up with stunning bowling figures of 5/7 in 3 overs with his left-arm spin.
L&T won the match comfortably by a big margin of 102runs & all-rounder Shiva Yadav was declared ‘man of the match’ for his brilliant perfomance. Cricket & especially Indian cricket needs more & more all-rounders like Shiva & cricketgraph wishes Shiva & the whole team all the luck for a promising future ahead.
