It’s certainly the season as well as the trend of all-rounders, be it Maxwell, chris lynn, jadeja or pollard. The local matches and tournaments are not deprived of quality all-rounders either as we got to witness a great all-round perfomance by Mayank Gala against the quality side of Tata Motors in the ongoing Masters cup at the Elf Vengsarkar Academy ground, Oval.
Tata Motors won the toss & elected to bat first with an aim of making it a big 1st innings target to defend. The match could have been a lot easier but the sloppy bowling of Birla bowlers took Tata Motor’s total to 150/10 in 19.5 overs. The bowlers conceded 30 extras or else they would have been all-out for a mere 120 runs on the board. Opener Maharudra batted really well & scored a solid 30 but the entire batting line-up crumbled below him as hardly any batsman were able to convert their starts into big scores. Even though the bowlers did conceded extras but they bowled really well & particularly their right arm off spinner Mayank gala who scalped a stunning 5/30 in his 4 overs. Mayank made the batsman completely clueless with his efficient spin & kept on taking crucial wickets including maharudra’s. C Gohil also bowled well scalping 2/10 in 1.5 overs.
Chasing 151, Birla Sunlife openers were out early and they did experience some early jitters but Punit & Mayank at no.3 & 4 sailed their team towards victory after stitching a match-winning partnership. Punit smashed 45 off just 30 balls while it was Mayank who remained till the end smashing a 60* off mere 38balls which included 8fours & a big six.
Mayank completely owned the match with his all-round perfomance & proved how big an asset he can be for any team he plays for. Cricketgraph congratulates the whole team & Mayank for a great win and wishes them luck for their upcoming encounters.
