It was the first match of the tournament between Anjuman Islam and Narayan Jr. College at MB union, Cross Maidan in Mumbai. Anjuman Islam skipper won the toss and elected to bat first after winning the toss. The match was reduced to 35 overs from 37 due to penalty of slow over rate.

Anjuman Islam batted well as they posted a target of 280 runs for Narayan Jr.College. Right handed Anjuman skipper Mihir Agarwal smashed an aggressive 133* which was the highlight of the Anjuman’s innings. Mihir was not only the pick of the batsman but he also played with controlled aggression. Mihir kept on rotating the strike nicely and also smashed boundaries whenever it was needed. The skipper almost scored half of the team runs where he smashed most of the boundaries through the covers (which was his favorite area). Agarwal surely played the captain’s role to perfection.

Chasing 280 against a strong bowling line up of Anjuman is always tough. Narayan Jr.college was restricted to a very low total of 41 and Anjuman won their 1st match of the tournament by a big margin. Right arm off-spinner Mohamad Salman yielded magic with the ball with wonderful bowling figures of 7/14(6) which also played a huge role in destroying the whole batting line-up of the opposition team.

Skipper Mihir Agarwal was adjudged “man of the match” for his splendid knock of 133* and it was really good to see him dedicate his innings to coach Umesh Patwal sir who helped him change his technique in just a month (since he took him under his wings) We certainly wish Skipper Mihir and his whole team continue their good form in the coming matches of the tournament.
