Motive Sports : A cricket brand from Mumbai driven by passion

The story of Ajay Das may be relatable to a lot of people who wish to work in the field they find their passion too. For Ajay it was always cricket as he started playing at the age of 12 beginning in the U14 Summer camps. He was a promising all-rounder who was even provided scholarship by his school SVIS to play as a cricketer. However, things took a tidy turn when he stopped playing professional cricket at the age of 20 with a big shoulder injury.

Ajay started working in Call Center, followed by that he worked in an insurance company and finally he got a chance to enter the sports field again as a Head Co-ordinator with the Bangalore based Gaames Unlimited which handles a lot of high profile cricketers. Gradually he developed good contacts in the cricketing community which helped him to start selling bats of various brands which he sourced from Meerut.

It was after 3-4yrs at Gaames Unlimited, he took the decision to start his own brand instead of selling other brands which led to the birth of Motive Sports which deals in manufacturing of cricket essentials.

Speaking Exclusively with Cricketgraph, Ajay Das said “Everyone has a wish to have their own brand, with the networking and trust I developed in the cricket community I thought it’s time to have my own brand. Luckily I also got good artisans who are very good at their job which helped me to start small units of my own in Meerut”

When asked about his mode of business he shared “I have a unique way of business where instead of selling it through retail shops, we directly tie up with clubs and academies to sell the products directly to the customers & regarding our expansion goals we are in talks with few people in Canada and U.S where we can become distributors through their channel”

Ajay Das who has a team of 4people at present have already tied up with a lot of academies and schools in Mumbai with some of the prominent ones like Rising Star Cricket Academy & SVIS. Motive Sports also sponsors Ayush Jethwa who is one of the most promising Mumbai Cricketers. Their English Willow Bats and gloves are even endorsed by International cricketers because of its good quality and we wish the brand keeps on growing in the coming years.
