Quarter Finals are always nerve wracking and exciting to witness & such was the game between Kotak Mahindra and Motilal Oswal at Elf Vengsarkar Academy, Oval which is itself a beautiful sight for the cricket lovers. Organised by Oneworld Corp, one could say even the construction of Metro project which has cut the cricket boundaries couldn’t stop them from fighting the battles on the cricket ground. Kotak Mahindra elected to bowl first after winning the toss as the conditions for them were more favorable to chase and put Motilal under pressure right from the beginning.

Motilal Oswal were all out for 120 in 19.4 overs and none of the batsman apart from A Aaras(30) , D Chalke(33) and D Zaveri(29) were able to score in two digits. The bowlers did an outstanding job where they not only contained the batsman but also kept on taking crucial wickets and breaking the partnerships. Leg spinner Ameya Dighe was the destroyer in chief taking 4/25 in his 4 overs. Apart from troubling batsman at regular intervals Ameya also took an important wicket of D Chalke (33) who was looking set at the crease. The rest of the bowlers supported him taking wickets and also containing the batsman from the other side. Tushar Chandra also did some brilliant fast bowling for Motilal.

Chasing 121 in 20 overs is a cakewalk for most of the teams and so did Kotak Mahindra. Openers Ravi Chaudhary and Nishikant Kamat gave a blazing start to the innings. While Chaudhary was out for 33, Nishikant continued his onslaught and went on to score a magnificent 68* off just 49 balls. Nishikant was in full flow not sparing any parts of the ground wherein he smashed some 8 glorious boundaries and 3 big sixes to enthrall his team & the spectators.

Kotak Mahindra who are known as ‘GIANT KILLERS’ won the match comfortably by 8 wickets and 4.5 overs to spare as they ended their chase at 121/2 in 15.1 overs. Opener Nishikant kamat and their leading bowler Ameya Dighe were adjudged ‘man of the match’ collectively for their great performance. In the end it was great to see players greet each other & also greeting ‘man of the match’ Nishikant Sawant who remained till the end to see Kotak through. As someone correctly said ‘the game of cricket is a great leveller’ & so was this match.

Also looking at the form the whole team and especially these two players are in, the semis and the finals will be a feast to watch!
