No.3 Atharva Nigare scores a stunning 180 to steer Al-Barkaat to a win in the Harris Shield Tournament ‘17

Played at the Shivaji Park Gymkhana in Mumbai, it was a match between two promising teams namely Al-Barkaat MMI and Cathedral & John cannon school where in Cathedral boys won the toss and elected to field first with an aim of restricting the opposition to a low total.

However, Al-barkaat are known to produce talents who score big and this time the player who came out brightly from their side was left handed Atharva Nigare who came in at no.3 and played a marathon  innings of 180 off 208balls to steer his team towards a big total. Atharva who stayed at the crease for 279minutes smashed 21fours and some of them were really a treat to watch. Not only did he hit some great cricketing shots but also did good running between the wickets to keep the score card ticking and eventually helping Al-barkaat MMI reach a commanding total of 398/8decl. Apart from his Nasir Shaikh smashed a fantastic 92 while Harsh Mogaveera also came up with an impressive 62.

Chasing 399, Al-barkaat restricted Cathedral boys to just 126runs all out where the bowlers did a fantastic job. Eventually, Al-barkaat won the match by a big margin and it was definitely Atharva who stood out from all the boys with his elegant 180.
