Opener Aditya Maheshwari (69) and Charan Shetty (54)’s quick fifties deflate Malabar Hill Club in the Gannon Dunkerley Tournament ‘18

Played at the Bombay Gymkhana Ground, Bombay Gymkhana won the toss and elected to bat first on their ground as the wicket has always been good to bat on.

Their decision to bat first was spot on as their openers Aditya Maheshwari and Vikrant Rambhia gave a flying start. While Vikrant scored a quick 21ball 38 which changed the momentum instantly while Aditya Maheswari scored a match winning 67 off 44balls anchoring his team towards a really good total. Aditya smashed 11fours and looked really solid for his stay at the crease smashing some really good shots which took the team total to a very competitive 206/4 in 20overs.

Chasing 207runs in a T20 game is always a pressure situation but Malabar Hill Club gave a really good tough fight even though they lost quick wickets at the top of the order. Karan Doshi(52 off 35) and Vishal Shah(51* off 21balls) did look dangerous at one point renewing the hopes with blazing half-centuries at the middle order. It was also good to see Vishal continuing his purple patch with the bat making a name for himself as a specialist T20 batsman.

Malabar Hill Club reached 177/5 in 20overs and eventually fell short of 29 runs as Bombay gymkhana won the match and Aditya Maheswari was declared ‘man of the match’
