Raju Shamla’s 39ball 72 powers Akumentis to a commanding win in the Thane Vaibhav Tournament ‘17

Thane Vaibhav Tournament is regarded as one of the most punctual and disciplined tournaments of Mumbai as everything maintained and functioned properly with discipline plus a lot of players get opportunities to showcase their talent too. In one such match between Akumentis and HPCL at the Central Maidan thane, Raju shamla displayed his batting prowess.

Winning the toss, Akumentis elected to bat first where in openers Rahul Patil (40) and Atish Golatkar (57) gave a flying start. Raju Shamla who came in at no.4 continued the positive momentum left behind by the openers as he accelerated the innings and shifted his gears to counter attack the bowlers. Raju went on to score 72 off 39balls which included 5fours and 4sixes to enthrall his team mates and spectators alike. It was his aggressive batting which took the team total to a healthy 245/5 in 35 overs.

Chasing a total of 246, HPCL did batted well but eventually fell short of 46runs. HPCL were all out for 199 in 33.1 overs where in Tanvish Vaze top scored with a half century while Gurmeet with 2/26 was the pick of the bowlers. The rest of the bowlers also bowled well chipping in with a wicket or two. Akumentis won the match by 46 runs and Raju Shamla was rightly adjudged ‘man of the match’ for his quick 72 & a wicket.
