Rupesh “Singhs” Automotive success song; beat Kathiwada by 62 runs

It was not an even steven game that was played between Automotive and Kathiwada on Saturday at MIG Bandra, Mumbai.  Batting first, Automotive posted a competitive score of 153-8 in 20 overs. Opening pair of Aditya Shemadkar (33 off 22) and Rupesh Singh (44 off 35) got off to a flyer as they stitched a solid partnership of 49 runs in 31 balls.

Middle order bat Akash Nair hammered 27 off 15, hitting three sixes to help his team reach 150 runs. For Kathiwada, Nirav Bheda, who bowled a tight line and length, was the only shining star as he accounted for 4-18 in his four overs. Chasing a tricky target of 154, Kathiwada did not get off to a good start, unlike their expectation, as they lost their openers cheaply and were felt wanting at 2-9 inside two overs. Coming in at no. 4 Megh Adhvaryu (34 off 33) tried to consolidate the innings and build the foundation but was outdone by Sushant Waje. Kathiwada innings was sent packing for a measly 91 in 18.2 overs, thus falling short by 62 runs. Automotive bowlers bowled well in tandem, with Parth Mehta, Kalpesh Gharat, and Sushant Waje scalping two wickets apiece.

Rupesh Singh was awarded with the Man of the Match for his scintillating knock of 44 in 35 balls. “I enjoyed facing the medium pace bowlers. The ball was coming on the bat nicely and I was able to time it well. This was my comeback match, and winning the Man of the Match made was like a cherry on the cake”, stated Rupesh.
