The Karnataka Cricket Association ground (cross maidan) witnessed a low scoring yet an exciting match between Abbott & Lowe Lintas (Milan Trophy) where both the teams gave a tough fight. Abbott won the toss & elected to bat first while Lowe Lintas had to restrict them to a low total.
Things did not go as per Abbott’s plans as they managed to score only 134/7 in 20 overs. The top order batsman failed to fire & were not able to create partnerships. Opener Shantanu scored a 30 ball 28 followed by a 11ball 21 by Nilesh Gadekar. However, it was Sandesh Bhoir at no.5 who infused back some life into the innings of Abbott as he scored a fighting 39 off just 30balls(4fours) which steered his team total to a somewhat respectable one of 134 in 20 overs. Arun K was the pick of the bowlers with 2/18 followed by a wicket each for Aditya, Shailesh & Varun.
Chasing 135 should not be a difficult task but Abbott players bounced back with the ball as they restricted Lowe Lintas to just 117/10 in 18.4 overs. Though things could have been different had they survived till the end. Despite a good start from the top 3batsman who scored 29, 26 & 32 respectively, batsman below them fell like a pack of cards & could not capitalize on the good momentum which was in their side. All-rounder Sandesh Bhoir who already played a good knock also chipped in with the ball taking 3/21 in his 4 overs followed by 2wkts each for Nilesh Gadekar & Amol Dixit.
Team Abbott won the semi-finals by 17runs & highlight of the match was surely Sandesh’s all-round perfomance. Cricketgraph congratulates the whole team for their win & also wishes them luck for a great finals ahead.
