Shadab’s 102 and Jash Dedhia’s fifer helps U/19 Matunga Gymkhana cleansweep U/19 Sonale Bhiwandi in the Naren Tamhane Tournament‘18

Played at the LIC Cross Maidan, two promising teams namely Matunga Gymkhana and Sonale Bhiwandi took on each other with Matunga Gymkhana winning the toss and electing to bat first on a wicket which has proved to be more assistive towards the bowlers.

However, they did a great job by batting first as they notched up 310/7dec in 56overs which is a very good score on a bowler friendly track. Even though it was a shaky start but middle order batsman Shadab Khan scored a match saving 102 off 112balls with 12fours and 3sixes. Shadab played at a healthy strike rate and kept the scoreboard ticking while also received great support from lower middle order batsman Veera Sigamani who scored an attacking 66 off mere 54balls with 6fours and 4sixes while also stitching a 120run stand with Shadab.

Chinaman Jash Dedhia who took 5wkts

In reply, U/19 Sonale Bhiwandi were all out for 81runs in 1st innings as Chinaman Jash Dedhia bowled a match winning spell of 5/28 in 10overs. Jash was really impressive with the ball as he troubled the batsmen while all-rounder Veera who batted well also chipped in with 3wkts. Receiving a follow on, Sonale Bhiwandi did bat well but were all out for 202runs with Viraj Jadhav taking 4wkts while Veera and Rahul Pawar bagging 2wkts each.

Matunga Gymkhana won the match outright by an innings and 23runs as the whole team played together really well with Shadab, Jash, Veera and Viraj leading from the front as the bright performers.
