Shubham Ranjane hits a classy 166 while Anup Revandkar comes good with a graceful 143 in the ongoing Police Shield Tournament ‘17

 

Played at the PJ Hindu Gymkhana, Marine Lines, it was a match between PJ Hindu Gymkhana and Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy where in PJ Hindu Gymkhana won the toss and elected to bat first considering that the rains are over and the wicket may have something for the batsman.

Batting first, PJ Hindu Gymkhana scored 366/9 in 70 overs and did a good job batting first. Even though the openers failed to give a flying start but Anup Revandkar at no.3 scored an effortless and a graceful 143 off just 160balls. Anup smashed 16fours and a six as he solidified the PJ Hindu Gymkhana’s innings. Apart from him, Sachin Wagh also chipped in with a crucial 68 at the middle order. From DY Patil, Prashant Bhoir and Shashank Singh chipped in with 3wkts each.

DY Patil in reply gave an amazing reply as they scored 366/4 in 66.1 overs. Openers Shoaib and Arun failed to give a great start but it was Aman Khan who came back in his elements as he scored a brutal 88 off just 51balls (14fours, 2sixes) Aman played in a style which suits him the best as he scored 88 at a strike rate of 172.55. However, the batting feast was about to come and did not ended with Aman’s batting histrionics as Shubham Ranjane at no.4 scored an elegant looking 166 off 183balls (18fours, 4sixes) which completely resurrected the innings back for DY Patil. Shubham scored runs freely and played some proper cricketing shots which were pleasing to the eyes. Yogesh Takawale at no.5 also gave a good support as he scored 64 off just 76balls at no.5. DY Patil won the match on 1st innings lead and a large part must definitely go to Shubham’s 166.
