Talented youngsters Yash Patil (159) and Aarya Satpute (104) smash tons in the U/19 Naren Tamhane Tournament‘18

Played at the Sunder CC, Cross Maidan, U/19 Ghatkopar Jolly Gymhana and U/19 Bengal Club took on each other where in Ghatkopar skipper won the toss and elected to bat first on a trick wicket which most of the times assists the bowlers.

Ghatkopar batting first managed to score 268/10 in 73.5 overs with their prolific left handed opener Pragnesh Kanpillewar who has been amongst the runs this season top scoring with 76 while the extremely promising Sharvay Keskar chipping in with 63 at the middle order. From the bowlers, Varun Joijode and Vidyut Pilonkar took 3wkts each with their effective spin.

Bengal Club on the other hand were off to a flying start with Aarya Satpute scoring one of the most composed and solid tons so far facing 303balls to score 101runs. Harsh Bhogle once said in an interview- Today’s batsman can face 20balls and score 50runs but ask them to face 50balls and score 20runs, they won’t have that temperament & technique! In an era of fast cricket, the real cricket of staying at the crease for long hours like Laxman and Dravid where a batsman is tested to the hilt has become a rarity and it was good to see Aarya showing that resilience where he smashed 8fours. What’s more he got a great support from the promising Yash Patil who on the other hand took on the bowlers and scored one of the most destructive centuries of Naren Tamhane Tournament. Yash scored a brilliant 159* off mere 96balls laced with 20fours and 7sixes lighting every corner of the ground with his attacking cricket. Both the boys Yash &Aarya also stitched a 211run stand which took the team total to 390/8 dec in 103overs.

It was on the back of their contrasting tons where one side was class displayed by Aarya and on one side was pure domination by Yash that U/19 Bengal team won the match on 1st innings.
