Team Abbott lifts the trophy as ishan Mithbavkar smashes a thumping 125* in the finals of Chanwala Trophy ‘18

It was a finals match of the tournament between two really talented teams namely Abbott Cricket Club and Omni Cricket Club who have fought hard throughout the tournament to reach this stage. Abbott CC won the toss and elected to bat first on the back of their strong batting line up.

Batting first, Abbott CC did a really good job notching up 262runs on the board in 40 overs for the loss of 5wkts. Abbott who did lose some early wickets got their innings back into the game as the talented middle order batsman Ishan Mithbavkar smashed a match winning 125 off 119balls which took the game away from the opposition. Ishan smashed 17fours and rotated the strike nicely while also engaged in a superb partnership with Shanatnu Chaudhary who scored 77 off just 59balls. Shantanu played the supporting role perfectly as both the players stitched a 204run stand amongst themselves to take their team towards a very healthy target.

Omni CC chasing 263 in a pressure situation were restricted to 222 all out on the back of collective team performance. Nikram Sawant at no.5 top scored with 59 while Dilpi, Sandeep and Ajit chipped in with 2wkts each while the rest of the bowlers also bowled really well. Team Abbott won the all important finals by 61runs on the back of collective team perfomance throughout the tournament. Ishan Mithbavkar was declared ‘man of the match’ for his fluent 125 while Shantanu’s contribution was equally commendable. The team performed well under the able captaincy of skipper Praveen Singh while their experienced and hard working coach who works behind the stage for team’s success Chandrashekhar Karmalkar also deserves equal amount of credit.
