The famed batting line up of DY Patil fires up with Yogesh Takawale top scoring with 140* in the Young Comrade Shield Tournament ‘18

Played at the DY Patil ground on their home turf, it was  a high profile match between two big teams namely DY Patil and Mumbai Police Gymkhana where in Mumbai Police elected to bowl first against such a talented batting line up with an aim of bundling them out for a low total.

DY Patil’s middle order batsman Sarvesh who scored a thumping 100*

DY Patil batting first were least affected as they batted the way they are mostly known for. The classy & consistent Subramanian D gave a kickstart to the innings with a solid 70 while also stitched a 117run stand with Shoaib Shaikh for 2nd wicket which developed positive momentum. Shoaib fell just 4runs short of what could have been a yet another deserving ton as he scored 96 off just 82balls. The ever consistent Shubham Ranjane also looked good for his 88 off just 64balls. The run fest was not over yet as the experienced warhorse of DY-Yogesh Takawale who came in at no.5 stamped his authority with a blazing 115ball 140*(9fours ,4sixes) to set the ground on fire. Yogesh kept the bowler on toes while did a lot of hardwork running between the wickets. What’s more he also stitched a 222run stand with Sarvesh Damle which propelled DY’s team total to 528/5 in 69overs. Middle order batsman Sarvesh who came in late at no.7 proved to be quite effective smashing a thumping 100* off mere 78 deliveries (8fours,1six). Sarvesh was also thoroughly impressive as he rotated the strike nicely with Yogesh and kept the scoreboard ticking.

Chirag who scored a fantastic and a hard fought 151

Chasing 529 runs is always a mammoth task against any team and DY who has a quality bowling attack allowed them to score only 362/7 in 70overs with their no.3batsman Chirag Khurana top anchoring the innings with a hard fought 151 off 145balls(14fours,5sixes). Chirag looked really promising against the experienced bowlers of DY at a time when the chips were down. Agni Chopra at the middle order also gave a lending hand with 60runs. From DY, Prashant Bhoir with 2/30 was the pick of the bowlers while Pravin Tambe and Iqbal Abdullah also took 2wkts each.
