Central Bank Recreational Club claim victory in a match of Inter Bank Cricket Tournament 2019

Ajit Rai, right-handed opener batsman of Central Bank Recreational Club, provided the strong and decent start. A target of 183 always seemed too much for Oriental Insurance Sports Recreational Club, even on this super-flat New surface. The Oriental Insurance Sports Recreational Club made a valiant charge in their own innings, but did not have the firepower that Central Bank Recreational Club possessed, and ultimately went down by 18 runs in a last league match of the 60th Sir Benegal Ramarau Inter Bank Cricket Tournament, organized by RBI Sports Club and played at the Youth’s Own Union(Cross Maidan), Mumbai on Friday. Sixteen banks have participated in this tournament and from each group, two teams will qualify for the quarter finals.

Central Bank Recreational Club won the toss and elected to bat first. Openers stole the show,78-run stand off 63 balls between Ajit Rai and Vinod had already set Central Bank on track for a mammoth score. Ajit Rai and Rohit also responded with a 76-run third wicket stand to put Oriental Insurance Sports Recreational Club in the driver’s seat. Ajit Rai, wicketkeeper of Central, smashed unbeatable century, 100 off just 60, including seven fours and three sixes. Ajit Rai also won the title ‘Man of the Match’ . Because of Ajit Rai’s brilliant ton, they were at 182 for 3 after the end of 20th over.

For Oriental Insurance Sports Recreational Club, Rahul hit 44 off 27, and Prasad made 52 off 45, but even with a strong support, they never looked like getting extreme close. Three bowlers disappeared at more than 8 an over. The Oriental Insurance collapsed from 76 for 1 to 164 for 5 in pursuit of 183 in 20 overs. with Vinod (26) and Prasad (52) adding 57 runs for the third wicket.

“We won the toss and decided to bat first. It was a good wicket to bat. Our score was 76 without any loss in just 10 overs. But, then Vaishnav tried to hit a pull shot and unfortunately got out in the 11th over. It was a good partnership. I was playing without any pressure. And we ended up at 182. Opponents were also playing in a good way, and their starting was good. But we also got the wicket always at the right time.
