Centurion Prayag Bhati powers CGST & CEX to a 10-wicket win in Times Shield

CGST & CEX and Nanavati Hospital locked horns against each other during the Times Shield ‘B’ Division match. CGST & CEX won the toss and elected to field at New Hind, Matunga, Mumbai.

Put into bat first, Nanavati Hospital piled up 263 in 51.4 overs. Sanved Vyavahare (78) and Nikhil Patil (53) were the top contributors with the bat for Nanavati Hospital. On the other hand, CGST & CEX’s Akshay Waikar was the pick of the bowlers with 51/3 in 7.4 overs.

In response, CGST & CEX went past Nanavati Hospital’s total and scored 292 in 63 overs. They took a lead of 29 runs. Prayag Bhati starred with an unbeaten 100 for CGST & CEX. Bhati picked up from where he had left against Mafatlal when he scored 98. Sagar Mishra (76), Gaurav Upadhyay (45), and Rohan Marwaha (36) too made useful contributions with the bat for CGST & CEX. On the other hand, Nanavati Hospital’s Vighnesh Solanki was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball, claiming 113/6 in 27 overs.

Trailing by 29, Nanavati Hospital could add another 47 in their second innings as they were bowled out cheaply in 11.2 overs. Nanavati Hospital set a target of 19 to CGST & CEX. Akshay Karnewar and Sagar Mishra were the most successful bowlers for CGST & CEX with three scalps apiece.

Chasing 19, CGST & CEX completed the formalities in 2.3 overs and won the match by 10 wickets. The opening pair of Rohan Marwaha (8 not out) and Akshay Karnewar (9 not out) steered CGST & CEX to a comfortable win.
