Mario Fernandes bags 6 wkts in a T20 match as Unilever wins in the Dreamz T20 Corporate Tournament ‘18

A nail biting finish to an outstanding match. Put into bat HUL lost mario on the first ball. Sujay and Vijay steadied the innings to some extent and then we lost Vijay as well. Alok Rajesh and bagul and Prasad chipped with their small contribution, but batting class was displayed by Sujay who ensured HUL were cruising at a steady 7 run rate till the end. Sujay made a classy 70 with few of them going out of the ground for 6 as well. HUL made 136.

Being Cross Maidan, the ground is small and 136 was just a par score. This needed some good bowling. TATA AIG lost their 1st wicket in the first over of bagul inswinger. Mario as usual was tight with his line and length and kept getting wickets in every over. They were 4 down for 37 in 7 overs. 1st and 2nd change was brought in with Alok and Varun, though bowled good but went for few runs and wicket less. They lost couple of wickets in between but also had couple of good partnerships in between. Match which was almost in HUl control started drifting a little towards last 5/6 overs when it was almost reachable for them. Match boiled down to 36 in 4 when Nilesh and Sujay were bowling and both bowled pretty tight.

Went down to 17 in 2 and Nilesh bowled the 19th. One six plus few couple of them got them to 11 and it was 6 in 6. It was getting tense with emotions running high at both sides. We decided to fo with experience and mario decided to bowl the last over. I call it magical over. They had 3 wickets in hand. Still people cannot figure out Mario’s ball. 1st ball dot, 2nd ball bowled, 3rd ball nick and 2 runs. They needed 4 of 3. 4th ball bowled, 5th ball again nick and Sujay in the nick of the time saved and gave 2. Last ball 2 required and bowled! HUL wins by 1 run. We had a stand out batting display from Sujay and a outstanding bowling effort by mario. Both deserved the MOM, but for his crucial wickets at the right time Mario gets the well deserved mom.
