Youngster demolishes New Apostolic English School with a seven wicket haul


Nagpur: Devansh Mishra continued his fine form to scalp seven wickets and skittle out New Apostolic English School for just 15 runs, setting up a comprehensive ten-wicket win for Centre Point School, Katol Road in the U-16 Boys category of Mumbai Indians Junior Cricket Tournament in Nagpur.

Mishra who had scalped eight wickets and struck a blazing hundred with the bat in the inaugural match on Monday added to his tournament wickets tally with another brilliant bowling performance. New Apostolic batsmen couldn’t with stand Mishra’s hostile bowling and were bundled out for just 15 runs in 16.1 overs.

The score was so low to chase that Mishra despite opening the innings couldn’t open his account and his partner Prabhviraj Lamba (18) knocked off the runs in the first over itself. Mishra however won the Player of the Match title.

Meanwhile, at the MSEB ground in Nagpur, all-rounder Akash Singh of Delhi Public School (Lava) scored crucial 19 runs and later snared three wickets as DPS defeated Shree Convent & Jr. College, Manewada in the Boys’ U-14 game by 70 runs.

Akash emerged second top scorer after Parth Belgundkar (28) to help DPS score 134 before getting all-out in 33.1 overs. In response, Shree Convent & Jr. College  were bowled out for 64 runs in 13.2 overs with Akash giving them severe jolts with the ball.

In the Girls’ U-16 clash, Ekta Bobade of Siddheshwar Vidyalaya helped her team clinch the match, thanks to her phenomenal five wickets haul and 23 runs with the bat. Ekta’s fifer helped Siddheshwar bowl out SS International School for 55 runs and then chase the target in 4.3 overs. Ekta who opened innings scored unbeaten 23 to lead her side to emphatic ten-wicket win.

In the same category, Shri Rajendra High School scored a massive 604-run over MKH Sancheti Public School. Rajendra girls made an imposing total of 639/2 in 17 overs which included penalty runs of 304 from the opponent. Sanskruti Talwekar (88 not out) and Shivashree Dhare (80) hammered half centuries with the bat. In response, Sancheti School were bowled out for 35 runs in 10.3 overs.
