Mumbai unveils their mystery spinner in Siddhesh Lad as he bags a brilliant fifer vs Mizoram in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy’19

It’s always fun to see your batters chip in with some bowling and especially when they are quite effective with it. Even at international level, we had Sourav Ganguly (132 wkts), Virender Sehwag (136 wkts), Yuvraj Singh (148 wkts), Sachin Tendulkar (200 wkts) all having more than 100 international wickets & 5 wkt hauls to their name.

The very reason that they don’t bowl often ensures that the opposite team is unprepared to face a relatively unknown bowler & icing on the cake becomes that our part timers many a times prove to be quite spot on.  One such case happened just a day back in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy when our Mumbai team’s batting mainstay Siddhesh Lad came in & made life difficult for the Mizoram batters.

After opting to field first, Mizoram were restricted to mere 77 runs all out in 19.3 overs. Siddhesh after being handed over the ball bowled full quota of 4 overs to become the pick of the lot taking 5/13 taking crucial top and middle order wickets. Tushar Deshpande with 2/8 in 2.3 overs also looked dangerous in his limited spell. Looking at some of his wickets, he was completely enjoying his role of being a part timer as for Mumbai it was a cakewalk to chase 77 runs.
