New Hind win the Quarter-Finals of Young Comrade Shield’20

Cricket Club of India after being put to bat first posted a respectable total of 264/9 in 70 overs. After a decent opening start with openers putting on 64 runs,  Nishad Gabhawala at no.3 (56 runs) and Parth Shah (54 runs) at no.4 took the mantle ahead to push their team to a good position with a 98 run stand for the 3rd wicket. From the bowlers, it was New Hind’s all-rounder Parikshit Valsangkar taking crucial wickets coming up with a fifer. Parikshit with his leg-break spin was the pick of the lot with 5/103 in 24 overs including the wicket of CCI’ set batsman Parth Shah.

Chasing 265, Skipper Bhavin Thakkar showed some grit with 47 runs while it was Sachin Yadav and Mumbai U16 player Aayush Zimare stitching a crucial partnership at the middle order. Left-handed Sachin scored a very important knock of 63 runs at no.4 while all-rounder Zimare got out on 47 runs facing 93 deliveries. Parikshit who took a fifer also chipped in with the bat scoring 24 runs as New Hind SC chased down the total with 2 wkts in hand in 60.2 overs.

With this win, New Hind Sporting Club quality in the semi-finals of the Young Comrade Shield Tournament.
