Openers Shaurya & Sanchit steer SKCA into Semis of U11 T21 Tournament18

Mumbai: SKCA, Mira Road’s opening batsmen, Shaurya Sharan (32* off 52) and Sanchit Kadam (30 off 44) put together a solid and steady opening stand to take their team into the semi-finals of the under-11 T-21 Cricket tournament organized by Sanjeevani Cricket Academy (SCA) at the Saffire ground in Bhakti Park, Wadala. Both the opening batsmen applied themselves and played sensible cricket to chase down the target with great ease. Put into bat, Vasant Vihar, Thane scored 124/5 as their in-form opener Sharman Divekar top scored with 65 in 66 balls. SKCA, on a strong opening foundation built by Shaurya and Sanchit comfortably chased down the target in 18.1 overs with nine wickets in hand and booked a place in the semis.

In the other match of the day, St. Arnold School registered their first win of the tourney as they beat Pro World Talent Cricket Academy by 18 runs. Batting first, St. Arnold School scored 139/4 as Vedant Lad (44 off 52) and Viraj Dave (31* off 24) chipped in with useful contributions with the bat. Pro World Talent Cricket Academy faltered in their chase as they were bowled out for 121 in 20.3 overs. St. Arnold School’s Rohan Dhuri was the standout performer in the bowling attack, picking up four wickets. Pro World’s batsmen, Nikash Nerulkar (38 off 48) and Anugrah Yedri (31 off 37) tried their best with fighting knocks, but couldn’t take their team past the finishing line.

Hosts Sanjeevani Cricket Academy with their second win yesterday in Group A and SKCA, Mira Road with their second win in Group B today, became the first two teams to qualify for the semi-finals. The next round of league matches of Groups C and D will be played on 27th, 28th and 29th November at the Saffire Ground in Bhakti Park, Wadala.

Match 2- St. Arnold School 139/4 (Vedant Lad 44, Viraj Dave 31*, Vartan Babbar 1/21, Shashwat Singh 1/34) beat Pro World Talent Cricket Academy 121 in 20.3 overs (Nikash Nerulkar 38, Anugrah Yedri 31, Rohan Dhuri 4/17, Purwa Pawar 2/18) by 18 runs.
