Paul Valthaty (86) & Ajinkya Patil (76) help CCI sail through as Nishad Gabhawala’s 115 goes in vain in the Police Shield’19

Bombay Gymkhana opting to bat first at CCI could have been all out for 200-220 runs but it was their solid no.3 bat Nishad Gabhawala anchoring the team towards a competitive total. After opener Ankit Shastri giving a head start with 58 runs, it was Nishad Gabhawala at no.3 scoring an elegant 115 off 156 balls. It was an innings which he built with resistance as he smashed 10 fours and did a good amount of running between the wickets.

Paul Valthaty & Vinit Indulkar

However, Cricket Club of India does boast of a prolific batting line up and it’s really difficult to beat them on their own ground. Openers Paul Valthaty and Parth Shah gave a brilliant 124 run stand with Paul scoring the majority of runs smashing 86 off 109 balls which had 12 fours and a six. The chase was further taken care of by the middle order thanks to a 130 run stand for the 5th wicket between Vinit Indulkar (56 off 75) and Ajinkya Patil (75* off 85 balls) as CCI chased down the target in 68.1 overs winning the match by 5 wkts.
