Skipper Sagar Shah’s 91* steers Wellington CC to a win in the Bombay Junior Shield’20

Jaico Cricket Club after opting to bat first at Azad Maidan managed to post a total of 178/10 in 40 overs. Apart from their openers Gaurav Dalvi (59) and Aman Singh (42), most of the players found it difficult to tackle the wellington bowlers. Left arm spinner Ankit Jain with 3/27 was the pick of the bowlers while Mateen Mansoori and Shantanu Kadam chipped in with 2 wkts each.

Wellington CC who suffered some early blows with scoreboard reading 2/19 and 3/44 got back into the game thanks to a perfect skipper’s knock by Sagar Shah who scored a match winning 91* off 97 balls (9 fours, 2 sixes) coming at no.4. Sagar absorbed the pressure well while also got good support from Darshan Mangukia (34* off 49) as Wellington CC went on to win the game by 6 wkts chasing it down in exact 35 overs.

Skipper Sagar Shah speaking with Cricketgraph shared:  “It was a spinning wicket and as we were chasing .. bowlers were getting really good grip plus the odd bounce & ball was keeping low .. I was just thinking to play as many balls I can & keep the scoreboard ticking .. n really it helped me compose my innings well”
