Upendra fights it out while Rohit’s brilliant ton helps SS Travels win title of Milan Memorial Tournament’19

Rohit Shirgaonkar’s untouched century helped S.S.Travels cruise to a 2-wicket victory over Reliable Milk Products Ltd.(RMPL) in the final match of Milan Memorial League T40-40, played at the Cross Maidan, Mumbai on 26th May.

After being put to bat first, RMPL lost one of their openers in the fourth over and were struggling at 25 for 1 in the powerplay. They kept on losing wickets at regular intervals which was quite evident from the fact that none of their batsmen were able to cross the 20 run mark except for one. They were at 77 for 7 after the completion of half of the innings with lone warrior Upendra Yadav smashing a hard fought 110 off 97 balls. Ajmal and Rasik struck twice for S.S.Travels while Sagar took four wickets.

After limiting RMPL to 189 all out, Rohit Shirgaonkar put on a solid partnership for the 1st wicket to usher the opponents. Bowling attack of RMPL was good till the 11-14 overs where it was a tough time to survive in the match. They lost 3 crucial wickets in between but it was Rohit fighting it out for his team hitting a match winning 82 off 89 balls.

Century of Upendra Yadav certainly went in vain despite his heroic efforts. Upendra who is a product of Coach Umesh Patwal’s ithink Sportz Academy wore gloves almost after 15 days and still managed to score an impressive century while Rohit Shirgaonkar who was named “Best Batsman” last year was declared “Player of the Match” for his 82 off 89 balls. It was a fleet-footed innings which included eleven fours and two sixes steering his team towards a title win.
