Vinayak Gupta hits Third Consecutive Ton to help Golden Eagle win in DDCA League’22

On May 4, Golden Eagle handed a crushing nine wicket defeat to Bank of India during the DDCA League at Roshanara ground in Delhi. Golden Eagle won the toss and elected to field.

Invited to bat first, Bank of Baroda were bundled out for 170 in 31. 5 overs. Opening batter Neeraj Sharma was the lone warrior in the fight as he muscled a 72-ball 98. Sharma missed out on a well deserved century as Shiv Puri got the better of him. Puri and Vivek Tiwari were the wreckers-in-chief for Golden Eagle as the duo scalped four wickets apiece.

In reply, Golden Eagle made light work of the run chase as they completed the formalities in just 13. 4 overs. Vinayak Gupta, who opened the batting, led the run chase with an undefeated century. Gupta plundered a blistering 126 off 54 balls to power his team to a comprehensive win. This was his third consecutive century in the tournament. On the other hand, Bank of India’s bowling looked listless as they had no answers to the questions posed by Golden Eagle.

Gupta,  a left handed batter and a right arm off spinner has already played for Delhi U-25 and Delhi U-23. He also featured in the Asian Cricket Council Emerging Teams Cup in 2019 playing for India U-23. He played a match against Bangladesh in that tournament and mustered 40 runs off 65 balls, batting in the middle order.
