Yashraj Joshi Scores 80* for Porbandar District in Inter-District Jai Hind Trophy’22

On May 8 and 9, Rajkot A locked horns against Porbandar District during the inter-district Jai Hind Trophy. Rajkot A won the toss and elected to bat first at  the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) – C ground in Rajkot.

Batting first, Rajkot A piled up 9-371 in 80 overs. Opening batter Kishan Parmar top scored with 128 runs off 167 balls, including 16 boundaries and a six. Parmar’s opening partner, Prasham Rajdev mustered 66 runs off 117 balls, including eight boundaries and two sixes. Parmar and Rajdev stitched a 143-run opening partnership to lay the foundation. On the other hand, Porbandar District’s Sagar Parmar was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped 4-63 in 17 overs, including one maiden.

In reply, Porbandar District scored 8-280 in 80 overs. Though the opening pair of Sachin Mevada (36) and Priyajitsinh Chudasama (39) got off to starts, they failed to capitalize. Towards the end, Yashraj Joshi and Yuvraj Dodiya struck delectable half-centuries to keep their team in the hunt. At one stage, they were struggling at 5-120. Joshi top scored with an unbeaten 80 off 132 balls, including nine boundaries and a six.  Dodiya on the other hand struck a 61-ball 51. Parshwaraj Rana and Kamlesh Makwana starred with the ball for Rajkot A as they claimed three wickets each.

Though the match ended in a draw, Rajkot A pocketed one point on the basis of the first innings lead. The inter-district Jai Hind Trophy is an important tournament as top performers from this competition could be considered for Ranji and U25 state teams.
