Rakesh Naik is a seasoned player and an experienced cricketer and it is certainly good to see him play at his fullest. Just fresh from a great century in the Kanga Match last week where he scored a really solid looking 101*, Naik again gave an impressive perfomance against Young Friends CC at the MB union Cross Maidan where in Young Friends CC won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Batting first, MB Union made 188 all out in 44.4 overs where in opener Tushar Tiwari was the highest with a 31 while the rest of the batsman also chipped in with 10’s and 20’s. Rakesh Naik(26), Mitesh Churi (29) and Ninad Raut(28) also gave handy contributions with the bat. Off spinner Rahul Singh was impressive with the ball as he bagged a 5wkt haul taking 5/83 in 20overs which included 5maidens.

In reply, Young Friends CC were given a tough fight by the MB union boys as they restricted them to just 173 runs all out in 36 overs while Sayyad Zafar top scoring with a valiant 64. Slow left arm spinner Rakesh Naik was the pick of the bowlers as he chipped in with impressive bowling figures of 4/46 in 9 overs. MB union again batted for 7 overs in the 2nd innings before the end of the game’s play where MB union won the match on 1st innings. MB union won the match but it was Rakesh Naik who is looking really good this season. What’s more- with 167runs at an average of almost 33 coupled with 8wkts definitely makes him a valuable all-rounder to have in the team.
