It was the intense pre-quarter finals at the Vengsarkar Academy, Mahul, Mumbai between Deutsche Bank and Capgemini. It was crucial for both the teams to win from here as it would help them qualify for the semi-finals. Winning the toss, Deutsche bank elected to bat first with an aim of attacking the bowlers from the world ‘go’

Openers Felio D Silva & Vikas Wagh gave a good start but it was Wagh who continued his counter attack against the opposition. Vikas Wagh scored a half century (51*) at a strike rate of above 200 which played a huge part in taking his team’s total to 137/3 in 10 overs. He also got great support from Sanket & Nitin Wadekar who smashed 36(18) and 26*(8) respectively. Aditya Mhatre’s 0/16 in 2 overs were the only respectable figures to look at from Capgemini.

Chasing 138, Capgemini played equally good cricket and gave their best until Jigar Parikh the spin wizard entered the crease. It was 64/1 and Capgemini were looking really good until left arm spinner Jigar came & took 4 wickets in 4 balls which changed the game upside down. His hat-trick was the turning point of the game and the hat-trick wicket of the opposition captain was his personal favorite. Jigar’s overall bowling figures read 3/7 in 1.5 overs which was nothing short of stunning & sensational. Capgemini were all out for 78 and Deutsche won the match by 59 runs.

With a victory against Capgemini, Deutsche Bank qualify for the semi-finals and they are looking poised to win the Tata Motors Corporate Cricket Championship tournament. ‘Man of the Match’ Jigar Parikh will certainly be a bowler the opponent needs to be worried about for sure.
