What a wonderful match it was for Mumbai where almost all the best under-14 players of the season right from the likes of Vedprakash Jaiswal , Suryansh Shedge, Musheer Khan. Shubham Mistry & Ayush Zimare were in the same playing XI.
When you have such a pool of in-form talent players in your arsenal, fireworks are always bound to happen and that was exactly the case between Mumbai and Saurashtra. Mumbai had won the toss and elected to bat first, in the 1st innings, Mumbai scored a gigantic total of 548/7 declare in 127 overs. Musheer Khan and Suryansh Shedge were the star batsman in the 1st innings where both of them amassed single handedly over 400 runs of the team’s total. Both the batsman also stitched a massive partnership which played a big role in their team crossing the 500 run mark. Musheer Khan’s 237* was nothing short of class and confidence and he is evolving as a batsman everyday. Musheer’s classy 237 came in 368 balls and he smashed 25 boundaries in it. Suryansh Shedge on the other hand scored 186 off just 193 balls at a strike rate of above 90. Suryansh definitely needs no introduction anymore as everybody is now aware of his class. Suryansh again stamped his authority with the bat where in he smashed 25 glorious boundaries in it.
In reply, Saurashtra were bundled out for just 109 runs in 70.5 overs in their 1st innings. Khush Jain & Ayush Zimare were the pick of the bowlers taking 5/14 & 4/24 respectively. Both the bowlers destroyed the opposition in tandem & it was a wonderful sight altogether. Mumbai again entered the crease & this time Vedprakash was promoted up the order to open the innings with Shubham & it reaped benefits as both the openers remained unbeaten on 109*(shubham) and 104*(Ved) respectively before the game got over.
The 3rd and the final day ended with Mumbai remaining unbeaten on 222 for no loss in 55 overs as they won the match on ‘1st innings’. It was a great team perfomance where all the boys did their job perfectly. Musheer Khan was adjudged ‘Man of the match’ for his match winning double century (237*) and Mumbai lifted the trophy of West Zone under-14 Tournament.
All the boys have a great future ahead and especially the likes of Vedprakash, Musheer, Suryansh and Ayush who have been consistently performing since last few months.
