Run Machine Shubham Ranjane (218*) and Rahul Lad (187) smash dominating tons while Harshad saves the match with his fighting ton in the Times Shield ‘17
Played between DY Patil ‘A” and Central Railways Cricket Association at the iconic DY Patil ground. It was a match between two prolific teams namely DY Patil and Central Railway Sports Association where in Central Railways won the toss and elected to field first.
Their decision to bowl first against such a strong and in form batting line up was certainly not the best as what was about to come was a complete run scoring feast for DY. Openers Anand Singh & Shoaib Shaikh once again gave a great start but it was Rahul lad and Shubham Ranjane at no.3 & 4 who stitched an epic 300run stand between themselves. Both the batsman applied themselves really well to the crease and took on the bowlers with elegance. While Rahul scored a calm and composed 187 off 264 balls (19fours, 1six), Shubham on the other hand was aggressive right from the start as he notched up a stunning double ton scoring 218* off just 195 deliveries (21fours, 3sixes). Both the players smashed some really good cricketing shots which were nothing but pleasing to the eyes. The form in which Shubham is, he is really looking set to achieve bigger things in cricket as he has proved his batting worth by amassing over 1000runs in a span of just one month. DY Patil on the back of these two batsmen reached a mammoth 635/8 in 125.2 overs.
Central Railway Sports Association on the other hand gave a tough fight surviving 122 overs without getting all-out. Even though their top order failed to fire, Nikhil Pardkar at no.4 chipped in with 44 followed by a really fighting and match saving 117* off 298balls by Harshad Rawale. Harshad faced 298 deliveries with patience and resilience to escape his team from the jaws of defeat. Sanket Bhaye down the order also played a crucial role smashing 53 thus taking their team total to 314/7 in 122 where no 1st innings result could be obtained. Even though the match turned out to be a draw, it was Shashank’s terrific form along with his 300run stand with the classy Rahul lad which remained the highlight perfomance of the match. Harshad’s match saving 117* was also equally commendable.
